How RFID Access Control works
Hardware includes the SmartTrash® Base Station, Access Control Node, and RFID cards/fobs. The system can control and log electrically interlocked compactors, balers, trash chute intake doors, and container lifters/dumpers.

RFID Access Control includes SmartTrash® compactor monitoring: energy-based fullness, private cellular communication, and dashboard access — no separate WiFi or LAN required.
Secure by Design
Every SmartTrash® system is built security-first. Monitors transmit only machine-performance data — with little or no third-party value — over private cellular networks (NB-IoT / Cat-M1 on 4G & 5G LTE networks), so they never touch your building's WiFi or LAN. Data moves through a credentialed UDP message system and lands in a SQL database that's siloed behind a firewall and never exposed directly to the internet. The user application is reachable only over an authenticated HTTPS connection.
